Hello, friends! I hope you’re enjoying your summer and still getting some scrappy time in! It’s Junell here to share my July layout with you using all the July 2021 kit and extra goodies. I say this every month but, without a doubt, THIS month is my absolute favorite so far! The colors and sentiments are perfection and so good for summer!
Supplies | July 2021 Kit, July Labels, Adventure Chipboard Stickers, Adventure Paper Stack, The Great Outdoors Stamp
One of the first things I did when I received my kit was go through the Adventure Paper Stack and pick out papers that went with my photos. They had a lot of cool tones, so I picked out paper that also had cool tones. And I absolutely love woodgrain paper, so that went on the layout too.
I created a cardstock diamond template to cut out my papers and also my photos so they would all be the same size and create a nice grid-like pattern. After taking some time to arrange the papers in a pleasing way, I used adhesive to glue them down onto the bottom, left portion of the layout.
I used pencil marks and a ruler to continue the diamond pattern up to the top, right of the paper. I did this because I wanted to use the topography pattern from the The Great Outdoors Stamp to stamp some of the diamonds. I used the negative space from my template to mask the area I didn’t want stamped. Some diamonds would be left white, and some were spots for the photos. After I added the stamping, I placed my photos and adhered them down. I used my sewing machine to stitch around the layout to add more texture and interest.
I loved the 3 x 4 inch “adventure is out there” tag from the July Kit, so I used my diamond template to cut it out and used it as a journaling spot.
The Adventure Chipboard Stickers were perfect for the title and I placed it right in the middle along the same angle as the paper and pictures to draw your eye upward to the journaling. Using the July Labels in the same way also gets my eye to move around the page. I used those three spots as areas to add some embellishments. and added die cuts from the July Kit and also stickers from the Adventure Chipboard Stickers.
Thank you for reading about my layout today! I cannot wait to see what you do with the July 2021 Kit and add-ons and if you can, challenge yourself to create a template to create a pattern of your own on your project!
