How do you begin a paper crafting project? Today, Nathalie Leonelli is sharing her go-to method for choosing product: starting with color! Let’s take a look at the beautiful hues that she selected to create a new pocket page to inspire us today!
Hello Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Nathalie here today to share my latest pocket pages created with the September kit and add-ons and explain one of my go-to techniques when creating my projects. This is my monthly spread documenting last October in my 9″ x 12″ everyday album:
Supplies | September 2020 Kit, Cozy Chipboard, Stitched Heart Wood Veneers, October Wood Veneer, Autumn Days 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack, Grateful Stamp
When I open my Elle’s Studio box of goodies, I have several ways to pick what I will use on a project. One of them is to split the kit and extras into warm and cool colors. This distinction is part of color theory and if you are not familiar with it, here is a link to a basic video from YouTube.
The warm colors I sorted on the left are perfect for the fall months. A few of my photos had yellow and orange touches, therefore that is the combination I decided to use for these pockets. I created another project with the cooler selection on the right that will be shared at a later date!
Black touches add great contrast and definition to a warm color palette. Here I stamped with the Grateful Stamp, added hand stitching and doodled some frames in black. Note that wood veneer embellishments, like the October Wood Veneer I used here, are neutral and work beautifully with both warm and cool colors!
You will find more warm and cool elements in other new products like the Cozy Chipboard, which are great for layering, the This is Us Stickers, September Labels and the Grateful for This Printables, of course!
I hope you have found this warm-hued project inspiring! I would love to see your version of a warm or cool selection on your next project! On Instagram, add the #ellesstudio tag for us to see or share your project in the Elle’s Studio Facebook Group! Happy scrapping!
