Bah Humbug layout by Jill Sprott

Hi everyone, Jill here! If there is anything that I have learned from the example of the Griswold family, it is that the holidays don’t always live up to our expectations — and once we accept that, we can really find something to laugh about and to celebrate. Instead of documenting a picture-perfect Christmas, I devoted a layout to the imperfect (but still memorable) one that my family experienced this year. The ’Tis the Season collection and holiday-themed acrylics from Elle’s Studio helped me to get it all down on the page.

The “Bah Humbug” title set atop an image of blurry tree lights actually serves as the foundational idea for the page — Christmas felt a little out of focus for me this year, and I worried that I was going the way of Scrooge.

The journaling, placed alongside a numbered pattern, documents my December “Bah Humbug” moments (but also the good stuff — there was that, too!).

I’m not a total curmudgeon — I made room on the page for the holiday spirit, adding a series of (fittingly undecorated) trees that I hand-cut from various ’Tis the Season patterns, using the acrylic tree as a template.

All in all, the layout does justice to the Sprott version of a Griswold Christmas. Onward to New Year’s Eve!
