Traveler Notebook with Special Guest Anabelle O’Malley

Let’s welcome Anabelle O’Malley back for her second week with us here on the Elle’s Studio blog to show us a project using a current trend in scrapbooking- a traveler’s notebook! We love that she switched up her memory keeping process to fit her lifestyle. Let’s take a look:

I have been an avid paper crafter for the past twelve years. During this time, the scrapbooking industry has changed, and so has my style. I started off with 12” x 12” layouts, switched to 8.5” x 11”, then tried pocket scrapbooking in order to preserve my memories. Recently, I have found that I have less pictures (my son is now 13 – enough said!), but I still want a way to record my stories. As you saw in my last post, I have fallen in love with the planner craze. This naturally led to my obsession with traveler’s notebooks, and thus, my current mode of memory keeping was born. I am just loving this size for my layouts! I recently received an Instax printer and the small photos fit perfectly on my 4” x 8” notebook pages. Here is a spread I created using the Little Moments collection, along with the April exclusive Perfect Weekend stamp set.

I love using journaling tags on my traveler’s notebook spreads! Here I layered the star journaling tag from the April exclusive kit and the “adore these little moments” tag from the Little Moments journaling tags on the left page. I added some of the numbered journaling strips from the April exclusive kit and the cute ‘yes’ stamp from the Perfect Weekend stamp set to create my writing space. My spread is about my recent trip to Nags Head and I was able to write about the fun things we did while we were on our trip. The Perfect Weekend stamp set was perfect for this page!

On the right side, I used the floral Little Moments journaling tag, along with the star stamp from the Perfect Weekend stamp set, which I love! Another technique that I used on this page was cutting the “pure joy and happiness” title from one of the journaling tags in the Little Moments journaling tags and used it as an embellishment. I did the same thing on the previous page using the small hearts, also cut from a tag in the Little Moments journaling tags.  I tend to have more ‘flat’ layouts in my notebooks, but added the “favorite” wood veneer label for texture.

Finally, I printed out the Yes printables on vellum. I love the transparent look it brings to my spread!

Using a traveler’s notebook for my memory keeping has been working out really well! Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek at how I accomplish it!

EllesStudio-AnabelleOMalleyHi! I’m Anabelle O’Malley!  I live in Delaware with my husband and our thirteen year old son, Ryan along with our orange tabby, Pulu. I work at the University of Delaware at the laboratory preschool teaching pre- kindergarten and kindergarten children, as well as the university students.

I’ve been paper crafting for the past ten years and have loved every minute of it. It truly is my creative outlet. The best part has been working with and meeting so many wonderful people who are as passionate about paper crafting as I am. As a child, I would spend hours drawing and making cards for people, so this is just a natural extension of my love for all things paper. Along with creating layouts, I still love card making and trying out new techniques. My creations contain lots of texture and details, layering and clustering. Most recently, I have jumped head first into the planner craze. I love having a beautifully decorated planner! It makes working on my to do lists much easier. I also am enjoying documenting my memories in a traveler’s notebook.

When I’m not teaching or scrapping, I can be found enjoying time with friends and family, cooking, reading, hitting the gym or spending too much time online. I’m so excited to be Guest Designing for Elle’s Studio this month. Thanks for the opportunity to work with such fun products!
