fun with cards- tidbits

Hi guys! I’m glad to be back with another edition of fun with cards! Today, we are highlighting one of the funnest items in the Elle’s Studio collection… tidbits (even the name is fun, don’t you think?). DT member, Kate Vickers played along and created this gorgeous colorful card!

happy birthday 1. Cut a piece of the top left of the patterned paper to 5.5 inches tall X 4.25 inches wide. 2. Cut out the yellow tag from the Serendipity Lil’ Snippets – Favorite Things and stamp a sentiment on the tag with grey ink. 3. Cut out the pink and cream patterned tag from the Serendipity Cutouts (second tag down from the top left of the cutouts). Cut out the ‘Celebrate’ tag as well. 4. Adhere the yellow tag on top of the pink and cream tag with foam adhesive squares. 5. Adhere the yellow tag and pink tag pair on top of a 3 inch circle with more foam adhesive squares (there will be one layer of foam adhesive squares in between each tag.). You can see what I’m talking about a bit better in this photo. 6. Adhere the 3 inch circle with tags on top, to the bottom right of the patterned paper. 7. Adhere the ‘Celebrate’ tag to the top left of the patterned paper.  8. Using more foam adhesive squares adhere one of the tidbits to the top left of the card below, but slightly overlapping, the ‘Celebrate’ tag. 9. Apply another tidbit to the left of the 3 inch circle tag cluster using foam adhesive squares. I embellished this tidbit with an Elle’s Studio heart stamp from the You & Me Collection and an enamel dot.  10. Adhere your finished card top to the top of your card base and you’re done!

I made these cards back in January for CHA but I still like them and they are great examples for today’s highlights (I think! :))

hello: On this pie chart card I used a single tidbit but it pretty much is the main design for the card. I used a ruler to trace the pieces into different patterned papers, cut and arranged them to match the pie chart. I used the ‘hello’ cutout for the title, then embellished with wood veneer stars and sequins.

totally awesome: On this card I combined tidbits and circle punches to create the background. Tidbits have different functions here, as a title (totally awesome), stand alone decorative piece (floral) and background (stripes). I inked, pop dotted or added butterflies to each circle for dimension and interest. I then placed them into a 4×6 journaling card and sewed around it to give it a nice finishing touch.
